— This problem is characteristic not only for the age of 50 years and older. It worries women all over the world, and depending on age, this pathology occurs in 30 to 70% of women. It is usually not life-threatening, but it impairs the quality of life. The question is whether patients are willing to improve this quality of life if they have such a problem. — Male problems, unfortunately, also exist. In addition to the general opinion about prostatitis that exists in society, there are a number of other problems that bother men with age and should be dealt with. Most often, such a problem as prostate adenoma is discussed, in medicine it has the term benign hyperplasia. That is, these are changes in the prostate gland when benign growths occur in it. There is no single theory as to why these changes occur, but it has been unequivocally proven that the influence of testosterone decreases with age and the prostate gland begins to hypertrophically enlarge. This increase is painless, and therefore the patient usually does not rush to the examination. When the prostate gland begins to enlarge, then there is a possibility that it affects the mechanical outflow of urine. In the patient, this is manifested in the fact that during the night the patient can go to the toilet three or four times, not all urine can come out and the body feels the fullness of the bladder. This turns into sleepless nights, a feeling of incomplete emptying, nervousness, the risk of developing urinary tract infections. And already in this case, people ask for help...

— We also had questions on the site about whether a person can independently diagnose the development of urological diseases at home, or is it better not to engage in self-medication?
— There is a practice in the world that men after the age of 40 should undergo an examination by a urologist twice a year. This is related not only to the prevention of prostate adenoma, but also to the diagnosis of such a disease as prostate cancer. Early diagnosis enables these patients to live for decades. Unfortunately, it is impossible to diagnose these diseases at home. There are special test systems on the modern market that allow you to determine the level of prostate-specific antigen. This indicator is significant for prostate cancer, because it increases tenfold during the disease. In the initial stages, it can be a slight increase, so it is quite important to go to the doctor for an examination even at a young age, even at the slightest doubt. Take the smallest number of tests, undergo an ultrasound examination - the procedures take little time, but it helps save lives.
